Becoming Catholic | OCIA
Come & See What We're All About...
OCIA is the process by which adults enter the Catholic Church. It’s short for “Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.” (Formerly known as RCIA): A program of formation and information (O.C.I.A.) is offered each year beginning in September. Call or email the office for more information. If you know of anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith with the possibility of receiving the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass next April, please let the parish office know. Paul Mazur and Amy Cooper will again lead this group this year.
We begin the next session of OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) to bring people into the Catholic Church in September. If any of you are interested in completing the journey into full communion with the Catholic Church, or have friends or family members who are interested, please inform the parish office. Paul Mazur leads the OCIA process for our parish.

Taste & See the Goodness of The Lord!
The OCIA process is designed for those adults and children over the age of seven who are:
- Unbaptized. The primary focus of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is on those who are not already Christian and have not been catechized.
- Baptized but uncatechized. Those who have been baptized either as Roman Catholics or as members of another Christian community but did not receive further catechetical formation or instruction. These have also typically not celebrated confirmation or the Eucharist.
- Those seeking full Catholic Communion. These are baptized, practicing Christians from other denominations who seek entry into the Catholic Church.
In the case of children who have reached the age of reason, the proper pastor should be consulted for information about Baptism and the other Sacraments of Initiation.
The St. Luke OCIA Team is Deacon Gary Rudemiller, Paul Mazur, and Amy Cooper. For more information or to get started, please get in touch with us at (859) 885-4892 or email us at stlukenicholasville@cdlex.org
