MoM's - One Hour One Purpose! Meets April 21 at 1:00 PM

ONE HOUR - ONE PURPOSE
The Millions of Monicas (MOMs) Prayer Ministry invites women of all ages (mothers, aunts, godmothers, sisters, grandmothers) to attend our twice-monthly meetings where we spend one hour in prayer for one purpose—for children of God who have strayed from the Catholic faith to return. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of the church. Check the parish calendar of events for dates each month. Our patron saint is St. Monica, who, after years of persistent prayer, saw her son, Augustine, embrace Christianity. He became a Doctor of the Catholic Church and helped shape Catholic theology through his writings. For more information, call/text Mary Jo James

The Altar Servers of the Diocese of Lexington are invited to attend a Mass with Bishop Stowe to be recognized for their service to our diocese and their parish. We will be giving out certificates of service and a commemorative coin. Our goal is to register all altar servers in the Diocese of Lexington. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Women's Group Meets Monthly on the First Thursday, at 1 PM in the Parish Hall

The Women's Group will prepare a meal for the Homeless Shelter on Saturday, April 18th, at 2 PM in the church basement. All are welcome!
Attention Ladies, please join the St. Luke Women’s Group for lunch on Monday, April 20, at 11:30 am, at Connemara Golf Course , located off Nicholasville Road on the left, going north. Please text Kathy Montgomery (859-576-6801) to RSVP. We have a monthly social to get to know other ladies of the parish. Hope to see you there.
Please help us to thank our veterans this Memorial Day! May 16th-May 24th, we will be collecting underwear, T-shirts, socks, Tootsie Pops, Honey Buns/candy bars/Twinkies, etc, and shampoo/bodywash. We will also accept monetary donations! Place your donation in an envelope marked “Veterans,” and we will do the shopping for you. Thank you for helping us to thank our veterans!

Garage sale coming soon! The Women's Group will be having its annual garage sale on August 1st ! As you are spring cleaning, please keep us in mind for donations. We will accept donations Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to Noon, from July 20th through July 31st. We will not accept adult clothing or electronics. Ladies, we hope you will take one of the revised pamphlets for the group and think about events in which you can participate (these are in the narthex on the credenza). We especially need volunteers for the first Sunday of each month to help with “Coffee & Donuts” after the morning masses. We are thrilled to announce that we have nearly reached our goal and will begin planning the work for Phase I of our Parish renovations. To help us meet our goal, we are introducing the Match Makers Initiative . For every new dollar committed to the campaign, your funds will be matched up to $150,000.

In Memory of Jerel L. Dennis & Edna Marie Reinert

Jerel L. Dennis , 74, beloved husband of Ruth A. Dennis, passed away on January 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on November 10, 1951, to the late Vernon Ralph Dennis, Sr., and Norma Taylor Dennis in Franklin County. In addition to Ruth, his loving wife of 15 years, Jerel is survived by his stepson Eric Johns and his wife Samantha, his brother Vernon Ralph Dennis, Jr., and his wife Nancy. He is also survived by aunts, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Services were held at St. Luke on Monday, February 2, 2026, preceded by visitation in the church. Burial took place at Lawrenceburg Cemetery the same day. Donations may be made to the Jessamine County Animal Shelter in honor of Jerel’s beloved dogs Onyx, Shawn, and Thumper. Expressions of sympathy are also suggested to the St. Luke Capital Campaign in Jerel’s memory.

Edna Marie Reinert , mother of parishioner Fred Reinert, passed away in Lexington, KY, on January 31, 2026. Her visitation and funeral Mass were held at Pax Christi on February 11, 2026.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May the souls of the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

St. Luke Right to Life Ministry

The St. Luke Right to Life Ministry is again sponsoring the “Baby Bottle Blessings” program beginning on Sunday, January 18 . Baby bottles will be available in the vestibule for you to take home and fill with currency or coin (or you can write a check) to benefit Assurance for Life, a non-profit health clinic in Lexington, Kentucky, offering free, confidential support for unplanned pregnancies, including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STI testing, and counseling on parenting, adoption, and abortion. The bottles need to be returned by Sunday, February 15. The Knights of Columbus and the Women’s Group both have supported Assurance in the past and encourage you to take a baby bottle home and offer your support and prayers for the unborn.

On Sunday, FEB 1st, after the 7:30 AM & 10 AM Masses, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the St. Anthony of Padua Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The Knights of Columbus, assisted by the Women's Group, will host a pancake breakfast in the church basement. We will have information available about the chapel, and tours available for those who want to learn more. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is encouraging you to take a chapel hour. Please join us!

Following each Mass, he will be signing copies of his recent book, Seeing Jesus with our Third Eye: Meditations on the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary . Robert Lee Lootens

Robert Lee Lootens , 86, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the home of his daughter in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Robert was born in Perry County, Kentucky, on August 28, 1939, the son of the late Joseph Lootens and Lorenze “Lora” Banks Lootens. He is survived by a daughter, Veronica Anne Becknell, and her husband, Greg; a son, Robert Lewis Lootens, and his wife, Trish; and f ive grandchildren, Bryan (Courtney) Becknell, Kelsy (Luca) Bicchieri, Cadyn (Aaron Best) Beck nell, Jack Lootens, and Lily Becknell and three great grandchildren, Ella Becknell, Molly Becknell and Everett Best. The Funeral Mass was held at on Monday, December 15, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church. He was buried at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Each Christmas, we decorate the altar with the beauty of poinsettias to accentuate the joy of the Christmas season and the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You are invited to help make this a wonderful season by donating a poinsettia in memory of a loved one who has gone before us. Each poinsettia is $25. Please provide the name of the person to be remembered. We will read the names of these loved ones before each Christmas Mass. You can bring your payment and name to the parish office, or you can leave an envelope titled “Christmas Flowers” with your donation and the names of your loved ones in the collection basket. Names & donations due by December 23.

In Memory of Jerry Patrick Riley

Jerry Patrick Riley, 79, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the VA Medical Center. He was born on September 8, 1946, in Lexington to the late L.P. “Lawrence” Riley and Ann E. O’Neill. Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Riley Angel and Patricia “Patty” Riley, and two brothers, Tom Riley and W.P. “Bill” Riley. He is survived by his children, Jay Landon Riley (Amanda), Lawrenceburg, Jeri Elizabeth Riley (Morgan), Frankfort; his grandchildren, Mikayla (Alijah) Hume, Clark Riley, Piper Riley, and Bradlee Morrow; and his great-grandson, Joshua John “JJ” Hume. He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted on December 1, 2025, at St. Leo Catholic Church, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, where pallbearers will be Thad Holway, Bill Riley, Thomas Riley, Jr. Miracle, Jay Riley, and Lawrence Riley

David passed away at Baptist Health in Lexington on December 1, 2025. He was an organ donor. His parents are Jim and Rose Gulley, and he had a sister, Jennifer Gulley. His funeral Mass will be held in Penfield, NY.

In Memory of Dorothy Ann (Zevnik) Swintosky

Dorothy Ann (Zevnik) Swintosky , 94, of Nicholasville, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Born on October 16, 1931, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Patricia Zevnik. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 59 years, Dr. Joseph V. Swintosky, and her son Michael (Lynda Tuttle Swintosky). Dorothy is survived by her second husband, Robert “Bob” Zuck. She is also survived by nine of her children: Joseph Swintosky, Denise (Dr. R.C. “Cam”) Graves; and Dr. Steven (Amy) Swintosky); John (Marianne) Swintosky; Paul Swintosky, Robert (Dr. Virginia Smith-Swintosky) Swintosky; Damian (Nichole) Swintosky; David (Kimberly) Swintosky, and Daniel (Ann) Swintosky. She is also cherished by her 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The visitation was held on Wednesday, November 5, at Milward’s on Trent Blvd., and the memorial Mass was held at St. Luke on Thursday, November 6 with Fr. John Moriarty officiating.
